What Types of Massage Therapy Are
Offered by Prescott Massage Therapy?
We
can accommodate your preferences for most styles of massage and body
work.
Most popular are:
Swedish Massage
is the most preferred of all massage types. The wonderfully soothing
strokes and manipulations are designed to relax muscles, relieve
tension, improve the flow of blood, and stimulate the lymphatic system.
Deep
Tissue
breaks the stress-tension-pain cycle by relaxing muscles, increasing
circulation and bringing the body to nueromuscular balance. Designed to
relieve muscular pain, and address soft tissue injuries and increase
range of motion, it uses slower strokes with more direct pressure
across the grain of muscles.
Sports
Massage
is for the serious athlete. It focuses on the muscles used for a
particular activity. It enhances endurance and performance, lessens
chances for injury and reduces recovery time.
Reflexology
Massage
eases pain, reduces stress, promotes relaxation and improves
circulation. A reflexology practitioner manipulates the feet of the
patient. Different parts of the body can be treated by
manipulating different parts of the foot. With over 7,000 nerve
endings, the foot is suited to this sensitive manipulation.
Pregnancy
Massage
can be very helpful in treating back muscles that become sore and tense
as they counter balance the extra weight in abdominal area. We use a
pregnancy pillow if needed.
Injury
Massage
is specific to a general area, whether an old injury, new injury, or
recent surgery. This massage concentrates on the specific injured area
with intent to increase mobility and relieve pain.
Hot
Rock is a very relaxing massage with the use of heated
stones. The rocks increase the flow of healing energy during the
massage.
Cranial
Sacrum Therapy
is a technique based on Cranial Osteopathy. Like Cranial Osteopathy,
Cranial Sacrum Therapy seeks to restore the natural rhythmic movement
found between the bones of the skull. It does the same for the
movements of the sacrum. The purpose of this is to aid the circulation
of the cerebrospinal fluid throughout the central nervous system.
Ashiatsu
Bar Therapy is Asian barefoot massage. "Ashi" means
"foot," and "atsu" means "pressure." Oils and lotion are
applied to the body, and soft, clean, bare feet give a rhythmic and
deep Swedish massage. Parallel bars are overhead, used for the
therapist's balance and control.
